名詞解釋： 泰國的圖書資訊學教育起源於1951年朱拉隆功（Chulalongkorn）大學，其前身是由國王拉瑪五世（King Rama V）設立之皇家侍從學校，後改制為提供平民可就讀之學院。當時的圖書館學課程開設在文學院，由五位美籍學者在五年中開設六門課程。1955年，該校創設圖書館學系，開設一門大學部課程。1959年正式開設大學部，1964年開設碩士班，這些課程設計均參考美國模式並調整以符合泰國的需要。該大學圖書館學系設立目的是促進圖書館事業發展，提供學生優良的圖書館學教育，為各類型圖書館培育優秀人才。1965年，泰國在教育學院，Prasarnmit 校區，為今日的Srinakharinwirot University，開設一年的圖書館學高級證照課程以訓練學校圖書館員。 泰國目前有18所大學和36所教育院校開授圖書資訊學相關課程，有11所大學開設研究所層級的圖書資訊學課程，分別為：Chulalongkorn University、Burapha University、Chiang Mai University等學校。18所圖書資訊學系所資料參見下表。各圖書資訊學系所名稱不一，涵蓋圖書資訊學、資訊研究、資訊科學、資訊管理等名稱。有10所學校提供碩士班，多為圖書資訊學碩士。第一個博士班為2003年，在Khon Kaen University成立的博士班，目前有3個博士班。泰國圖書資訊學校對學生畢業條件要求可分為兩種：須要寫論文和不須寫論文，若選擇後者學生要做個別論文研究。根據調查，圖書資訊學系畢業的學生主要就業市場是在政府部門，近年來各學校的課程也因應就業需求而逐漸調整內容。Premsmit, P.(2004).
