名詞解釋： 人名。他生於Chislehurst，為英國芭蕾舞史學家，著作極多皆研究十八世紀及十九世紀之芭蕾舞蹈史，對十九世紀之史實尤為著重。有關十九世紀之芭蕾舞史作品有《The Ballet of the Second Empire 1858-70》（1953，倫敦）、《The Romantic Ballet In England》（1954，倫敦）、《The Ballet of the Second Empire 1847-58》（1955，倫敦）、《Fanny Cerrito》（1956，倫敦）、《Victorian Ballet Girl》（1957，倫敦）、《Adeline Gene'e》（1958，倫敦）、《The Alhambra Ballet》（1959，紐約）、《La Fille mal garde'e》（1960，倫敦）、《The Dancer's Heritage》（1960，倫敦）、《The Empire Ballet》（1962，倫敦）、《The□Romantic Ballet in Paris》（1966，倫敦）、《Two Coppe'lias》（1970，倫敦）、《Fanny Elssler》（1970，倫敦）、《Le Ballet de l□Ope'ra de Paris》（1976，Paris）、Gautier on Dance（1986）、《The Ballet of the Enlightenment》（1996，倫敦）、以及《Adventures of a Ballet Historian: An Unfinished Memoir》（1982）。其文章在多種刊物中發表。蓋斯特曾擔任之工作有：Dancing Times之編輯顧問，1965年起任皇家舞蹈學會執行委員會委員，1969年後任該會主席。蓋氏本身原為律師，與名舞蹈家安．哈欽遜（Ann Hutchinson, 1918-）結婚。 |
