名詞解釋： 加拿大檔案學教育起源於1961年英屬哥倫比亞大學（University of British Columbia，簡稱UBC）成立圖書館學院（School of Librarianship）培育圖書館專業人才。1981年，與歷史系合作成立檔案研究碩士班授予檔案學碩士學位（Master of Archival Studies），開啟加拿大檔案專業人才培育的正規教育體制。英屬哥倫比亞大學圖書館學院於1984年更名為圖書館、檔案及資訊研究學院（School of Library, Archival and Information Studies），致力於培育圖書資訊與檔案學碩士高等教育人才，2003開始招收博士班。除UBC之外，加拿大滑鐵盧大學（University of Waterloo）在歷史系也開授有關檔案學課程，但仍以歷史課程為主軸。 該校課程包括古文書學（Archival Diplomatics）、現行文件管理（Management of Current Records）、文書管理歷史（History of Record Keeping）、檔案編排與描述（Arrangement and Description of Archival Documents）、檔案選擇與徵集（Selection and Acquisition of Archival Documents）、電子文件維護（Preservation of Digital Records）、維護學（Preservation）、檔案研究與學術（Archival Research and Scholarship）、文件管理專題（Topics in the Management of Records）、檔案公眾服務（Archival Public Services）、檔案自動化專題（Topics in Archival Automation）等專業課程外，尚且包括資料庫設計（Database Design）、圖書館與檔案館管理（Management of Libraries and Archives）、加拿大司法行政歷史（History of Administration in the Canadian Juridical System）等資訊與行政素養課程。其課程特色在於以檔案前端文書課程訓練為基礎，開展檔案管理各項專業技術之指導，並加入不少資訊系統與資訊技術課程，以符應檔案管理資訊化發展的趨勢。The University of British Columbia (2011).
