名詞解釋： 學術寫作書寫的是知識的生產或解析，貴在言之有理，言之有據，不僅要有獨特的見解，更要遵循嚴謹的規範，以期對學術社群做出顯著貢獻。因此學術寫作逐漸形成一種文體，有約定俗成的規範；一篇學術論文一定要有摘要，摘要須依序寫出「目的」、「方法」和「結果」；論文正文要從「前言」開始以近似八股的文體，舖陳研究背景論述架構，同時回顧重要文獻，接續說明研究方法，闡釋研究結果，再與前人研究交叉辯證討論，最後綜整研究結果。 學術論文寫作的過程和論文結構很重要，但遵循適切的寫作格式與規範同樣重要。因為不同的傳統、慣例和不同的思考方式發展出不同領域的知識；因此，學術寫作也因領域不同而不同。當學者要發表其創作時，如何陳述論證推導理論，論文如何架構，如何引述證據，都會因領域或學門而有所差異。 學術寫作是結構化的、正式的、客觀的，然而不同學科領域有其慣用的學術寫作規範。例如，人文學科領域廣泛採用《美國現代語言學會（Modern Language Association，簡稱MLA）寫作手冊》；社會科學領域則是遵循《美國心理學會（American Psychological Association，簡稱APA）寫作手冊》；而科學領域主要應用科學編輯委員會（Council of Science Editors，簡稱CSE）的格式與版式 」。至於《芝加哥格式手冊》（Chicago Manual of Style）則兼容人文、社會、科學各學科領域， 詳述完整格式規範與學術寫作細節。 學術寫作具有正式、客觀、精緻、精確、簡潔、專業等特性；好論文的關鍵要素是內容精準、文字清晰、遣詞用字正式客觀。每種學術寫作規範都會清楚交代其論文結構與內容組成要素、版式規格、研究結果的呈現以及引證資料來源的格式，甚至說明學術發表的流程。American Psychological Association.
